Professional
credentials
I bring enthusiasm and
expertise to the practice of immigration law,
based on significant international experience.
After graduating from Princeton University and Fordham
Law School where I served as Editor-in-Chief
of the Fordham
International Law Journal, I received a Fulbright
fellowship to Japan. I later headed the Princeton-in-Asia
Foundation and the University of Michigan's
Southeast Asia Business Program, for whom I
continue to edit the Journal of Asian Business.
I also worked briefly for the U.S. Civil Service
in Washington, D.C.
I am a member of the American
Immigration Lawyers Association
("AILA"), the State Bar of Michigan,
and the Washtenaw County Bar Association and am
listed in Who's Who in American Lawyers. I
serve as a member of the Advocacy, Legislation,
and Regulation Committee of AILA's Michigan
Chapter and as Associate Editor of the 1998
Immigration & Nationality Law Handbook. I
am a frequent speaker on immigration issues and
each month address a wide range of ethnic,
community, and student organizations. My wife,
Diana Newman, and I have four
children.
